Pat Costello is a native of the
Kings Islands area (commonly known
as the Island Field because River Shannon and the Abbey River
surround this area of Limerick City). Pat played rugby for St.
Mary's
between 1971 and 1987. when Pat's playing days were over he
became involved in coaching the under aged teams. He later moved
on to become Assistant-Coach of the club in 1991. This was the
tear
that St. Mary's won the Munster Junior Cup and entered into the
Munster
Senior Cup. St. Mary's was the first Junior Club to play in the
competition
for 100 years. Pat also served as a Munster Youth selector for
five years.
