This site follows the "sleeping giant of Clare Hurling"
Clooney-Quin on their journey to winning the Munster Intermediate Hurling
Championship 2006. So tis a bit outdated. As I am German, I do not claim
to know very much about the intricacies of this sport but I do consider
myself to be a keen supporter anyhow! :)
16 December 2006: The Munster Final
After a fairly dodgy first half that saw some great confusion over the scoreboard and an early second half goal for the opponents, Clooney-Quin rose to the challenge and went on to beat Cork Champions Bishopstown
by 3 points making them Munster Champions for the first time ever in the Clubs history.
Roll on the All Ireland and a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the players, managers and supporters of the "sleeping giant of Clare Hurling" Clooney-Quin!
It is well deserved!
26 November 2006: Clooney-Quin v Clonea-Power
The road to the Munster final continues. Final Score 1-13 to 1-10
12 November 2006: The saga continues
Clooney-Quin are well on the way having just won against Eire-Og Annacarty
with a final score of 3-15 to 1-11.
Good match but very cold! Let's hope the best for the next one on Sunday,
November
26th!
22 October 2006: Intermediate Hurling County Champions Clooney-Quin.
After 20 years of hard work and disappointment the cup has
finally come back to Clooney-Quin. In a nail-bitingly exciting match in
Cusack Park, Ennis on October 22nd, Clooney-Quin beat Killanena by 2
points. A (literally) last second goal by Killanena was prevented by
Clooney-Quin goalie Damien "Tayto" O'Halloran...the final whistle blew and
the place erupted in cheers for Clooney-Quin
who won that cup
the last time when some of today's panel were small enough to fit into it
quite comfortably!
Receiving the Cup for Clooney-Quin: Pat Markham
The team.
Pat and Pat. 2006 and 1986 captains of the Clooney-Quin Intermediate
Hurling Teams. A memorable day.
