Validation
Technician:
§
Over this period of
time I worked as a Validation Technician, testing localised developments which
were being designed for different operating systems. These Operating Systems
included Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Linux, as well as
other Readyware products, which were shipping on Dell systems. I was working in a team environment where
any problems discovered were reported to the Development Engineers, this
ensured a cooperative structure between development sectors. The testing
consisted of safeguarding against invalid configurations being shipped to the
customers, and ensuring the reliability of the software developed.

Co-operative
Education :
§
While on placement
for Co-operative Education I was working in the Software Development Department
of Dell Computer Corporation. During this time period I was introduced to the
Development system, which is used in Dell, and became familiar with all the
processes involved in working in a sucessful International IT Company. Over the
course of my placement I was given different projects to work on and to test
localised software developed for Dell systems. In working on these projects I
honed my skills, and developed new ones. I was required to work on my own
initiative and have a logical approach to problem solving, which I was able to
do. In one project I adapted a particular tools package used in the department,
this involved learning the intricacies of complete system.I also learned shell
scripting and the registry details of Windows 95 and NT and how they are
adapted in software installations..
