We wandered down to the waterside in Wellington Sunday morning feeling pretty shook. After sitting there for a while we noticed there seemed to be a fair bit going on. We were watching some water skiers and rowers out on the harbour. The hangover haze start clearing and we realized there was some really good bands playing behind us.

Off we went for a gawk and straight away came across these nutcases on stunt bikes balancing up high on all sorts of obstacles.

Nutjob.

Another fruitcake.

When the motorbikes took over on the same course we started wondering what was going on. This was just a little too much activity for a normal Sunday afternoon.

So we wandered down the quay a little bit and came across a warehouse with a huge skateboarding ramp. These guys were top class and there were roller bladers there too.

Finally ... we twigged it. An X-games competition.

Skateboarders.

Happy out having spent a couple of hours watching these guys we walked off and then came across more of them. These fools were doing all sorts of tricks and flips on their bikes on a dirt track with a good few ramps.

Loopers.

Driving from Napier to Wellington was a bit of a long haul but it was a beautiful day and we took the west coast approach route to Wellington. To give ourselves a break we stopped off at Waikanae Beach about 45 minutes outside of Wellington.

A beautiful long sandy beach it was and we chilled out for a while sun bathing and reading our books and stuff.

I was really glad to be back in Wellington again. Going out drinking there was actually quite like going out at home. There was a real buzz about the place - probably helped by the fact that the clubs and pubs are mostly on the same street.
