here are two peer machines i've made. bug reports, suggestions, etc are welcome. put the .dlls and the .htmls in your gear/generators directory:
- ¬¬
jmmcd Peer Note-Pool is an algorithmic
improvisation machine. it's not particularly sophisticated, but it
does some things well.
- ¬¬ jmmcd Peer Meta-I used to be called jmmcd Peer Wrapper. it does a few things - it could be good for making meta-instruments (think templates) which can be controlled from one place (and therefore, require only one track in the sequencer).
even referring to skin.txt, i found it hard to figure out how to add a skin to a buzz machine, probably because i know nothing about windows programming. once i understood it, i wrote a little update.
i have to admit that, much as i love buzz, i'm finding myself inexorably drawn towards doing most of my programming and music writing on linux. that might not be permanent, but in any case i want to write up some ideas i've had for possible buzz machines. maybe someone else will take them up. feel free to do so without any obligation towards me, though i'd be grateful for a credit.
- ¬¬ Peer Pitch Detector. it occurred to me that there's no reason a peer machine can't be simultaneously an effect, or a generator. one possible application would be a pitch detector: it could take in an audio signal (eg from an ASIO input machine), figure out the pitch and volume, and use that to control a target machine via peer connections. it wouldn't have to generate any sound itself. you could use it to play the infector with your guitar!
- ¬¬ a wave terrain synthesizer. just google for "wave terrain synthesis" if you don't know it.
maybe i have some more ideas, i'll go through my notes. any other applications of the "Peer as effect/generator" idea?
