Newcastle West.....................................................................................1-0@ Drom-Broadford...................................................................................1-0@ Turning in an excellent second half performance, the U-16 team beat Drom in the West 'B' Final at Knockaderry on Friday night last. Despite losing JP Cremin mid way through the first half, the team ended the first half, 1-@ to 1-@ ahead.Shane Kelly getting the all important goal, pulling first time on a breaking ball in the square.Points followed from David Hurley, who had an excellent hour at centrefield and @@@. The backs were under immense pressure for the majority of the second half, but stood firm in the face of the many Drom attacks.A vital point from Aiden McMahon steadied the ship and with 5 minutes to go, Tony Ahern, leading by example, pointed the all important lead free from 50 yards out to ensure a place on his mantle piece for the cup. We had impressive displays from Tony Ahern,David Hurley,Shane Kelly,Kevin O'Brien,Tony Doyle and Tommy Quinn.
