The times for the client applications to complete were measured and the average value for each response size calculated. The results can be seen in figure 7.4.

Unfortunately due to the granularity of the ``time'' command and the speed of the client over the college network, the results are not very accurate. Despite this it is apparent that T/TCP holds a significant speed advantage over TCP for the majority of cases. This is accounted for in the reduction in system calls required for a T/TCP client (see chapter 9), and the reduction in the number of packets that need to be exchanged before the data is passed onto the client.
