      General Plan:

In my opinion the best way of going about things is to first of all fortify your base. Once this has been done you can safely concentrate on other activities like building up your forces or collecting Tiberium. Use turrets (NOD) or guard towers (GDI) and don't be afraid to over do it. I usually find that a line of 5 or 6 is enough to withstand a wave of attack.

You'll find that the enemy tends to attack in waves and then stop for a while. It never returns quickly enough to finish the job, unless of course it's after destroying your Construction Yard. In most cases the situation is hopeless after this loss. Once the base can look after itself, its time to take out the enemy.

A few scouting runs into enemy terriotry is called for before an all out attack. This is helpful in locating the enemy's construction yard. Once this has been found I recommend concentrating all you attacks on this point. It's useless (and frustrating) to find that after taking out some guard towers and power plants and regrouping, on return they're already back again. Don't forget, at the start of most levels the enemy's base is already established, and will have a plentiful supply of credits. If the Construction Yard is taken out, you're half way there to winning. Construction Yard Image

I find that there is usually a weakness point in that the yard could be built next to a cliff which can't be defended. All that's involved here is sending grenadiers or rocket launchers to the side of the cliff to take it out. If not, there is sometimes a "backdoor" so to speak, by destroying a barrier and again avoiding all the defenses. Spend time scouting out all possibilities and plan your attack carefully.

Attacking the Construction Yard may result in heavy casualties, but if successful, well worth it.

      Some cool tips.

      • Guarding buildings or units:

Select the units you wish to use as the guards. Press CRTL-ALT (the cursor will change to a red cross-hair) and click on the units you want to guard. They will patrol the area around the selected target and engage any enemy close by.

      • Creating teams:

Select those you want to form part of a team. While selected, press CRTL-? where ? is a number between 0 and 9. Now all you have to do to select the team is press the number you assigned to them.

      • Hints :

        1. It can be dangerous putting a flame thrower in a team. If he is killed he could take out all the men around him.
        2. By pressing ALT-? you can center the map over the team whose number is ?.

      • Map hot points:

Just like ALT-? will center the view over a selected team, by pressing CRTL-F7-F10 you can create a hot point on the map so that by pressing F7-F10 you can go to that point immeadiately.

      Useful Keystrokes.

        G :
Select a group or a single unit and press G, the unit(s) will now guard the area around him and engage any enemy.

        X :
Extremely useful, especially when up against flamethrowers or grenadiers. With your group selected, pressing X will cause them to scatter so as to avoid everyone in the group being hit in one explosion.

        S :
Stops a unit. Useful if you find the units not going quite where you intended.
