Jardin Gaia inscribe at the Minister of Environment the first *Wildlife Breeding Center* devoted to breed for release confiscated animals. Even if the project was focused on parrots almost immediately we start to receive every species of wildlife as no other center was available in the country.
With a modest contribution from the government , US$ 870 per month , Jardin Gaia is struggling with increasing operational costs that already reached US$ 5,000 per month so we heavily relies on Volunteers and donations for day to day operations.
The Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE) declared Jardin Gaia the Official Wildlife Rescue Center of the Central Pacific Area , the first in Costa Rica.
We received the first international grant from the Dutch Cooperation Agency and since then we have been able to improve our infrastructure , equipment and activities.
A new Cooperation Agreement and new Contract have been signed with the government and the Veterinary School. We are now working to a new funding proposal that will allow Jardin Gaia and the Veterinary School to consolidate this experience and to promote wildlife medicine in the country and in the meso american region.
