Inside Man
Submitted by gus on Tue, 2006-05-02 21:25. film | stuffWent to see the other week. Bank job/heist film. Easier on the soul than I expected from a Spike Lee joint. Some really flashy takes and set pieces. Plot probably overdone towards the end, but I guess that goes with the heist genre. I wouldn't want to see it again too soon, but good stuff nonetheless.

Smash!
Submitted by gus on Mon, 2006-04-24 20:56. lifeSpent Sunday afternoon in the pub shouting Munster on to a proper pasting of Leinster in the European Rugby Cup semi-final. One moment in Clohessy's you could hear a pin drop as kicks were taken and a fantastic second later your hearing saturated as the crowd roared the ball over the bar. I doubt there are many places in the world where a sport and a team are held in such reverence. What a buzz! People were jumping on the furniture as O'Gara and Halstead ran in the two tries at the end of the game.
Being second, is to be the first of the ones who lose.
Submitted by gus on Sat, 2006-04-22 16:29. lifeToday Michael Schumacher broke Ayrton Senna's record of 65 career Formula 1 pole positions at Imola, where Ayrton took the last of those poles on the eve of his death.
Here's the incomparable Senna at Spa Francorchamps in 1991, from a race series at its pinnacle before its slide into a sad anaemic charade dictated by pit strategy, stripped of its heroes and flamboyance. Or was it just that I was still a fan?
Want!
