Below are some pictures during a walk in Wicklow on 22nd May 2004.

The route took us from the car park on the Military Road, along the river to the foot of East Top Hill. Climbing to the top of East Top (794m), we moved west to the blunt summit of Mullaghcleevaun (847m). Moving in a wide arc, too wide as it turned out we skirted around Barnaculian Hill before ariving across from Stony Top. Moving around the western edge of this, we climbed the ridge to arrive out above Lough Iolar. And finally the last rise to the top of Tonelagee Mountain (817m). Finally we made our way back to the car park, a deceptivly long trek as it turns out.

Image 17 Water run off channels. Fascinating though they are, walking down them will invariably put you off your course! Keep to teh estern edge of the ridge or you end up climbing up later.

Image 18 The terrain is very varied, peat surfaces, sand/stone, grassey.

Image 19 The channels can get quite deep, two meters or so!
