Yamaha W7...

There are a number of musical instruments that I play, but my favourite (mainly because it's the one I started with) is the piano. However, a piano is a rather large, heavy instrument to be carrying around with you, whicj rather limits the opportunity to play sessions and gigs. So, I finally gave up and admitted that it would be easier to just buy a synthesiser than to check that there was a piano in every venus that I wanted to play. After much indecision, I settled on a Yamaha W5, but they had stopped making them and Ireland was apparently out of stock... so I went for the 5 octave model, the Yamaha W7. This has been my trusty tool for the past two years now, fulfilling all my requirements for both live and studio work.

One day when I had very little to do, or else so much that I didn't really want to start, I checked the web to see if anyone else had purchased a similar keyboard... They had! Much was my joy when I discovered that people had taken the trouble to create and compile new and interesting sounds and voice banks, and then had been generous enough to publish them on the web! Many thanks to all who contributed to my collection of sounds. Check the Links Page for links to their sites.

WControl
A couple of years ago I wrote a simple Windows interface to the front panel of the W5/7 keyboard, allowing control of all the front panel functions via MIDI. Since a number of the panel buttons were failing this was very useful to me. If it's useful to anyone else, please download it from here in Zip archive. You will need the Microsoft Visual C/C++ runtime libraries installed - most machines will have these already.

My sincerest thanks to Arthur Jacobs, who provided me with a copy of the zip archive, after a disk failure removed it from my website and the backup failed to restore it.
