About Me
A little about myself...
Hullo!!!
I'm Gareth and I'm from a place called Limerick, in
Ireland,
a small country on the Western edge of Europe. Last year, I completed my studies in Computer Engineering in the
University of Limerick.
Now I live and work in Cambridge in England. I work for
Nokia, the people who make the really kewl phones. I'm a Software Design Engineer for them, which means I design, engineer and develop software for them... Great fun! :-)
Who I Am
My name is Gareth Eason, but many know me as simply Gar or even -->Gar or bigbro which adorn my e-mail messages.
I found a suitably bad picture of myself to adorn this page, just in case anyone is wondering what I look like. I will replace it with a better picture the day I find one. (I don't think I'm very photogenic :-( )
What I Do
I can usually be found in front of a computer somewhere in Nokia in
Cambridge during working hours. I am part of the team that designs
and develops the Short Data Service on TETRA. This is
something like the SMS (Short Message Service) on GSM phones,
except a lot more powerful.
Interests & Hobbies
Although I work with computers, and have had an interest in programming and software development for many years now, my
extra-curricular love is music. I play piano, keyboard, guitar,
electric guitar, recorder, tin-whistle and anything else I can get my
hands on. I've recorded some interesting stuff here in the University,
some of which is available in the music section of this site.
I am a guest musician with a Celtic Rock band called, 'Gan Ainm' in
Finland, and will be recording with them later this year.
Here in Cambridge I play in a number of Traditional Irish Sessions, but
I have also been known to play rock, blues, jazz and even classical when
the mood takes me... ;-)
