NEWS UPDATE
Senior Championship 2006
14/5/2006
Beagh earned a deserved victory in the 2006 campaign by defeating Kinvara in Athenry last Sunday. The two teams have had many hard encounters down through the years an again last Sunday was no exception. Beagh got the perfect start to the match when Brendan Gantly rattled the net twice in the opening half. The hunger and fight that was missing in the Mellows game was not found wanted against Kinvara, and Beagh played with a more relaxed and expressive composure throughout. The final whistle blew with a scoreline of Beagh 2-10, Kinvara 0-10. On a day when the team played as a unit, it was hard to pick out individual efforts. However, both Beagh backlines performed well with Pat Diviney, Hurler and Finbarr Gantly to the fore. At midfield, Rory Gantly had a game to remember while good perfomances were also had by the aforementioned Joe and Brendan Gantley and young John Moylan. Beagh will meet Clarinbridge in the next round, a team which was badly stung by Athreny at the weekend. Beagh will have to play with the same intensity and fire and a bit more if they are to compete with Clarinbridge.

Beagh had a dissappointing opening to the 2006 Senior Championship when been well beaten by Liam Mellows in Clarinbridge on a scoreline of Liam Mellowes 2-17 Beagh 1-7
Best for Beagh were Finbarr Gantly and Johnny Morris on a day when the team as a whole failed to perform.
