"Basketball" is a term
synonymous with the University of Limerick and on behalf
of the UL club, I invite you to have a look around our
purposely designed website. This is the 54th Intervarsity
and we are very proud to be hosting the event.
This year is an
historic event in it self as for the first time the
IT colleges are allowed to compete. This year's event
has a total of thirty-seven teams taking part with nineteen
women's teams and eighteen men's ; the event runs from
March 9th - 12th 2006. In total over the four days there
will be eighty-eight games played. The competition is
been run in "Ireland Sporting Campus", the
University Arena.
It is a great pleasure
for me to extend a warm welcome to all players, coaches,
team managers, referees and supporters to an event of
this magnitude. We in UL are looking forward to entertaining
and skilful games that will advertise college basketball
at it's best. On a personal note I would like to thank
everybody involved in advancing this event and for their
selfless hard work and dedication in getting the event
to this stage. I would like to also thank my UL college
club members, as without them this event would not happen.
